Supreme Court rules states can collect sales tax for online purchases nationwide

Besides the obvious cost advantage, a big competitive advantage online retailers had on traditional retailers was tax collections. Not having to pay taxes on certain online purchases allowed consumers to save a bit, which influences buyer behavior.

The ruling by SCOTUS on tax laws and online retail bring equity between players in the same market space. Not a big gamechanger, as many consumers pay taxes on online purchases from retailers with a physical presence in their state. But, the big beneficiaries are state treasuries that always seek new lines of revenue to cover absorbent amount of public spending.

Not a big fan of higher taxation, but this does not fall under that category. Simple expansion of current laws to behaviors that really do fit under the taxable situations.
